I bought a new Moto Guzzi motorcycle and 22 years later in 2014 I bought another one. I wanted to keep the old bike and get it back to looking like new, but better. The engine was factory painted silver, most of which was crap and had gone, so it was showing its age and mileage. Given that the standard engine paint job was ‘built to sell, not to last’, I wanted to find a specialist (not a generalist) that could do a good job preparing and finishing the entire engine and gearbox assembly to where it should have been 22 years ago. After checking various web based and non-web based suppliers I selected Roberto’s Custom Powder, who I knew nothing about, except for the web site. – BEFORE: · Roberto had a well laid out web site that included fixed pricing for standard work, which I thought was important. The site was very clear on what preparation was required for components, before drop off. · Roberto was located in Brisbane, meaning I could easily visit; · Roberto had heaps of samples of car/motorcycle/bicycle stuff that I could look at (on the web and in the showroom); · Roberto not only owns/runs the business along with his team, but does do the work. · Roberto was very keen to discuss what I wanted, and was very clear to point out his reservations in regard to what I wanted. · Roberto was keen to work collaboratively, before accepting the job, to be as sure as possible that the final choice would meet expectations, and of course succeed in the long term. To that end, Roberto coated one component at no upfront cost that I put through a fairly rigorous test (multiple fast heat, fast cool and harsh detergent tests (air to hot oven + hot oven to cold water + hot dishwasher sequences). · Roberto paid attention to detail. – DURING: · Paid attention to detail. · Kept me informed. – AFTER: · Completed the work on time and at the price quoted.
